Srimata- the divine energy

Who is this Srimata? To understand about Her, one should understand about the Supreme Energy.

For any job to be completed, objects and energy are both required. Science has proven that when objects are broken down, unimaginable energy is found in the atoms. Thus, it has already been proved that objects are nothing but other forms of energy.

Can any work be completed merely with some energy and objects? Are there any other additional requirements? Yes. To complete the work, the person needs a ‘mind’. If so, what is mind? What is the relation between the mind and energy? Why is science silent on this issue?

Two terms are commonly heard- jeeva (individual soul) and prana (vital, life-sustaining force of living beings). Science has been trying to unsuccessfully create this life-force. What is the connection between life-force and mind? Science hasn’t been able to make much progress in this front.

But our ancient Seers thoroughly studied this subject and arrived at the proper conclusions. Their conclusions can be interpreted from their various compositions.

For instance, in Lalita Sahasranama there is a shloka: Chichaktis Chetana Roopa Jada Shaktir Jadaatmika

Meaning: All the objects and the energy are nothing but forms of the same chaitanya (Pure Consciousness). Such consciousness has got 2 forms - internal and external. The external forms of this are life-force (prana) and the mind. The internal form is the Supreme Lord itself.

From this verse it is evident that life-force (prana) and mind are forms of this Pure Consciousness. Energy and the objects are also its forms.

Lalita Sahasranama further states: Chitis tatpada lakshyardha chidekarasa roopini

Meaning: Energy, objects, mind, Prana (life energy) and Parabrahma (God) are all one and the same.

Srimata = Sri +ee+ Mata. Here ‘ee’ means illusion (maya). Hence Srimata means the energy that helps us in overcoming illusion.

Srimata is that energy which, though present in every object and every living entity, remains invisible and beyond recognition. This primordial, root energy cannot be easily found. Such Supreme Energy is being worshiped during Navaratri as Srimata.
