Atma-jnana or Self-knowledge means to understand one’s own inner Self. Instead of searching God elsewhere one should try to see God or experience God within oneself.

How can atma-jnana be obtained?

Self-knowledge or atma jnana cannot be given. It has to be obtained from a Spiritual Master. It is obtained only by doing Guru seva. Even then it is for the master to decide whether or not He wants to shower it upon the devotee.
