So you are believing this to be your greatness. You are thinking, “The moment I chant Datta Stavam, I’m able to solve all the problems. I was waiting for a bus, I chanted Datta Stavam and my bus came; I lost my keys, I chanted and found them. So many people chant it, but do not have such experience. So it must be my great devotion and faith.”

If you have any such pride, expel it immediately. It is a strong expression of ego.

Many other people are continuously chanting Datta Stava, why don’t they have such experiences? Either there is fault with Datta Stava or with them. First you answer me if the power is in Datta Stavam or in your faith. Can you tell me? (I cannot say, he says).

You are desperate for a solution to your problem and you have completely surrendered and thought of Datta. So you got answers to your questions.

However, remember that you are using Datta Stavam for every cheap task – getting a bus, finding keys etc.

Once you understood the greatness or the significance of Datta Stavam, you should reserve and preserve that energy generated due to that chanting. And you should meditate on it. Do not use it for cheap tasks.

You mentioned you are not able to understand how this works. This is because you are immediately spending the energy gained from the merit of chanting. You must learn to preserve at least a portion of the benefits. If you do that, you will be able to understand. Use a little, reserve more.
