That was applicable for the past eons and is not practical in this eon. Are you as virtuous as Mother Anasuya? Is your husband as great as Maharishi Atri? When you cannot be Anasuya, your husband cannot be Atri.

You are an independent, modern, educated girl. If your husband is good, you can revere him by all means. But if he is bad, you can leave him. Who cares for such man? You cannot plead with him all through life. Of what use is such husband?
