Śri maha-ganapataye namah
We discussed that Wind-god Vayu who witnessed this incident was uncontrollably furious and that in despair he carried his son, went into a cave and then remained motionless. The moment Wind-god locked himself up, movement of air came to a standstill in the entire world! The living entities in all the three worlds panicked in the absence of air.
Imbalance in the five elements throws existence out of gear. Right balance between them is extremely critical. Just as we have two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, two tongues (including the uvala), two legs, two hands which balance our body, balance among the five elements is crucial. In the absence of balance, we wouldn’t be able to move properly. Isn’t this creation astonishing? The two legs carry the body weight effortlessly and help the person reach his destination. Even the most obese persons walk with perfect balance. The five elements have created this perfect balance.
When balance between the five elements is lost, the human being cannot survive. We claim to have in us the ability to tolerate bodily imbalances, when the truth is that it is beyond our capacity. The day we suffer with stomach ache we say, ‘headache I can tolerate but it is very difficult to withstand stomach ache’ but the day we are troubled with headache we say, ‘We can tolerate stomach ache but not headache’.
When the movement of air stopped totally, the movement of the senses stopped. Without air, inner organs cannot survive. For this reason, the person is kept on ventilator when oxygen levels drop.
Let us continue tomorrow.
